Pumpkin Gaga

I used to have a slight obsession with Lady Gaga.  My pumpkin is being her for Halloween.

This is Coal and he insisted (He loves the camera):

I put him to work while he was up there.  He added spanish moss and fuzzy spiders.

Pumpkin Gaga:

She wanted a picture too.  She's an orange and black muted calico so she's a lil Halloween cat.

Broom Parking Only!!! All Others will be TOAD!

For this year's Halloween Decor I went with a Witch theme.  I put labels on various jars and used spanish moss to lay around the jars.  The witch ingredients I used were dragon's breath, eye of newt, mermaid hair, potion #31, butterfly kisses, and a few others.  I used sparkly ingredients for inside the jars but tried to make the jars look woodsy.  Like a little old witch put them together!!!  The ornaments hanging from the paper lantern also glitter.  There are two bats and one poiple spider.

I love this angle of the skeleton hands in the pot!

The fuzzy spiders were creepin' and crawlin everywhere!  This vintage looking witch family photo went with the theme AND the room perfectly.  The room is decorated with black & white family pics.  I cut out witch hats from black paper and put them on some of the real family photos on the walls.

Candy corn, lollipops, and chocolate cupcakes were the treats.

Each seat had their own mini witch's crock filled with the candy corn.

Purple Nursery for Twin Pups

I got another nursery project!  I love designing children's rooms and am excited about the color purple, the fun nature of my expecting couple, and the freedom they are giving me in creating the perfect room for their new baby girlZ!  That's right....twins!

We're starting with a very pale purple base.  I'm painting thick stripes on all four walls.  Color will always appear more vibrant once it's on the wall.  We've chosen Benjamin Moore's Grape Ice:

I'm still creating an accent wall with decals from etsy seller byrdiegraphics in soft blue which is a pale aqua color.

They already have the furniture for the room which includes two contemporary white cribs (you don't realize how big a crib is until you have two of them!), an oh-so-comfy white large armed chair and ottoman, a white changing table, and a white dresser.  The room is a bit cramped for space but they have a large closet so storage for clothing and extra wipes, diapers, etc. won't be an issue.  I am currently sending them accent tables.  Some of my favorites:

We would do either of these in blue or that pink to highlight the wall decals and brighten up the ambiance.

Pottery Barn's Bubble-Up table above and "Cute End Table" below

Maine Cottage's "Fiddlehead End Table" in teaberry (pale pink) or one of their lighter blues

I am using ANOTHER owl mobile from etsy!  I should be some kind of etsy dealer.  This one is from fongstudio and we're going to hang it from a teal ribbon:

I just emailed etsy seller ManicMuffin Totes about a custom teal and pink owl pillow for their comfy white chair:

They have also purchased this purple and white rug from Linens 'N Things, returning their striped rug, once they decided I could paint the walls:

We still have much to do but we're off to a great start!  Once they select a table, I'm working on curtains and bedding.

Bedroom Ideas

So I've finally begun decorating.  I'm a firm believer that one should live in a space before spending money on pieces that may not end up working out.  Waiting gives you time to get a feeling for the rooms and what you'll need for functional purposes and I think emptiness inspires creativity.  Although I have the eye of a decorator, I have the heart of a woman who despises clutter and yearns for function.  If a basket is not serving a purpose, it's just collecting dust!  The colors I've chosen are pastel teals, white, browns, and black.

I love how clean this room feels.  It makes me want to meditate (if you've met me, clearly I'm in need of some)  I have the white shag carpets but my walls are a light nutmeg so I went with light blue curtains:

I adore these little pet beds.  These are also similar to the cat bed post I wrote earlier...and if I thought it would keep my little gremlins from sleeping with me, I would do it, but even as I lay on the floor with my laptop in front of me, I've got a chubby little calico sleeping on my arm.  It wouldn't matter how comfortable the other options are, if they can sleep with me, they will.

My biggest decision seems to be my bed.  I can't decide between a canopy bed with curtains or an upholstered headboard.  The bedroom is just so big with high ceilings that a canopy seems perfect.

Elle Decor at Kohl's Makes Pier One Execs Weep

Last night while flipping through the Elle Decor magazine I saw an ad for an exclusive line of home furnishings by the magazine through Kohl's.  If it's created by Elle, it's going to be stylish and if it's sold through Kohl's, it's going to be affordable.  This is the type of news that causes Pier One (which I adore) executives to lose sleep.

These candle sticks (far right) are enough for me to go check it out!!!
